Woven into the Fabric

Prayer Candles

One of the things I’ve always loved about working in the studio is walking in, flipping on the equipment, opening the project, and dropping down into the process. Time begins to disappear, and my ubiquitous mind-chatter calms as if it’s also captivated. Many things have this same effect on me: taking photos, playing music, reading a good book. “Find something to do, stay busy, focus your mind,” that’s what my friend Enrique said the last time I talked with him. I didn’t know it would be the last time we spoke, but he did. That’s why he called. Now I understand. Woven into the fabric of the conversation, he was sharing his advice on how to die.
