The Creative Process

I’ve always been fascinated by the creative process. There’s nothing, and then, there’s something. Many books and courses are available on the subject: “How to Make Your Ideas Come Alive,” “Think Outside the Box,” and “The Seven Stages of Creativity,” but what is the essence of creativity? My initial understanding of the process was many years ago during my first job in a recording studio; it was like a light flipped on, “oh, I get it, they’re just playing around and making it up.” It’s the same thing children do when they play and fantasize. That’s why it’s such a mystery; it seems like there should be more to it, but there’s not. An adult will have a broader understanding of the craft or art than a child, but the creative process is the same. It’s just a big, for-real-game of make-believe.
