I have worked freelance or owned my own business for most of my life. From time to time I found myself taking jobs that I regretted, so years ago I came up with a criteria to judge them by. The more the position has, the better.
In no particular order:
- creative challenge or artistic interest
- to help a friend
- money
- elevate your career
- altruistic benefits
So, the best job in the world would be … a creative and artistic project that would help my career, making lots of money, doing something good for the world and working with friends.
Does strong altruistic value outweigh good pay? It’s harder to come by and much more gratifying.
