Chainsaw

Fiscalini Preserve, Cambria, California

I went for a walk in the forest. As I left the house, I heard a chainsaw, not unusual, mowers, blowers, and chainsaws seem to be ubiquitous nowadays. As I walked on, the saw got louder, and I realized it was at least six or more saws cutting at the same time, a cacophony of chainsaws, screaming and yelling; each one taking its turn, yelping up above the others, one after another. I could feel the collective groan of the forest. I get the same feeling listening to the news.
